Is it time for you to change tracks? I grew up next to a railroad tressel. Trains came through all times of the night and day. Majestic things of great force when they are going in one direction, momentum builds and great weights are moved almost effortlessly. Loud, strong, useful, effective, as long as they are on the right track. The track matters…any direction will do, but the relationship of the track to the train is ESSENTIAL.
Think of it, a freight train going first back, then forward, then in a circle, then on another track that dead ends. In fact this is exactly how it works…IF they want to be contained or use the train’s power for consistency not distance. If the train’s goal is forward movement though based on distance, a circle makes it perform less than they are capable. To keep the train on a looping track wastes fuel, time, and ability.
The engineer can full throttle a train engine all day long but that track won’t take it ANYWHERE. When they want to repair, rest, or refuel a train, they put it on a short track or a loop….the loop does its job, keeps the train off the express way, protects it from going forward, prevents progress from happening. The engineer then backs it up or switches track and low and behold the train goes forward since the path it is on leads somewhere new. Without that time of refuel and remapping there’s stress on a system that was made to take breaks to refuel…systems and resources are used that would be better served by a less powerful force…trains are not made to stay still or go in circles full speed without a purpose and strategy…it takes a change of tracks to reach a new destination.
How many of us do that with our entrepreneurial businesses or goals?
We forget the track we intended to be on. We hear of some other train’s track or even look at bicycles along the path…after all they might be faster, easier, or less difficult to move….
but
Have you ever stopped a freight train that was on its track? Very little can stop that thing when its focused destination is in sight and its aligned its cars together one at a time until they are all part of the momentum that pushes it forward.

What parts of your train are not in place? I bet you’re ready in almost every area if you pulled off the track long enough to realign the exact track you’re traveling….maybe its time you get off that endless loop and set goals and map your destination…
Johnny Cash sang a song in my childhood….”I see a train a coming, its coming round the bin….”
has an entirely new meaning this moment….
Are you ready to get your train on the track?
