As a businesswoman, mom, and wife, I have schedules and deadlines. Somedays there are many people to work with during one day. My projects often involve supporting many different people and processes throughout the day. As a strategist, I change hats from strategist, to teacher, to coach, to worker bee, to corporate go to girl. My personal priority is to succinctly cultivate projects that empower people. Sounds great, is terribly fun, but there is something deeper that must be remembered. How I empower people is as important as the product. At this stage in my life there are many moving parts. The skills required to work on big projects can sometimes be overwhelming, but to be true to where I seek to live, I have to keep first things first. What good will financial or business success be if I destroy the trust and joy of my family? If I am too busy to hear clients or to love friends through difficult experiences, am I succeeding at all?
Living your values matters. Have you defined on paper, on your walls, in your journal what are the life values you seek to be the backbone of how you do business? Live in your relationships? Convey to others in your actions?
It’s worth thinking about…after all Basics Matter…
